I Scream for Ice Cream

Oh my goodness gracious - you are in for such a treat - Katherine LaPierre's sweet ice cream. It has so many great textures and techniques that you can just taste the Baskin and Robbins.

Katherine did so many amazing things with this card. She told me she used the shaving cream technique to color in the ice cream, Crystal Effects to make the cherry on top pop, and silver embossing on silver paper to make the ice cream dish. If I know my punches, I think she used the key tag, oval punch and word window punches to make the framing around her sentiment.

   

Katherine is so much fun to swap with because she always bring some new twist to her cards. This card opens from the first Close-to-Cocoa layer, not from the Robin Hood Red base.

   

So Yummy!! Katherine used the stamp set, Goody Goody Gum Drop, a level 3 hostess with 19 stamp images.

The Really TRULY Best of the Blogosphere

If you haven't checked out Suzanne Boyd's blog, Card of the Week.com, well, where have you been? Suzanne Boyd somehow manages to find the best projects throughout the crafting blog sites and is kind enough to organize them so we can peruse them easily. She's been featured as scrapbooking.com's best blog of the week and is really just the go-to site for all the latest trends and time sensitive ideas. She is the true champion of the Blog-o-sphere.

Okay, I am definitely biased because Suzanne has been kind enough to feature my projects on her site a few times. And, check it out - she featured my stationery box big and bold on the top of the "Boxes" best of the blogosphere list, here.

Buzzin' By with Cyndee Rust

Oh, it's my favorite time of year - swapping with my StampSmith sisters. They're such a fun group of ladies to swap with, especially since we all have such distinct and different styles. I'm so honored to be in their company.

Cyndee Rust's attention to detail and precision always amazes me. Check out these adorable cards using the Just Buzzin' By stamp set.

 

I don't know how she did it, but I love that honeycomb look she achieved in her background. Isn't that amazing? Cyndee's layers are so precise!

Edited to update - Cyndee wrote me and explained how she got that honeycomb look. "I used the old bubble wrap technique. Simply use bubble wrap (I used the little sheet that comes in the Hodgepodge hardware kits) and rub your ink on it.  Place the cardstock down, rub some more, and there you have it!  Easy-smeazy!" What did I say? Isn't she a genius?!!

 

Oh my goodness. I love her masking and shadows in this little twin-honeypot card. That faux stitching is so precious against the gingham. Makes me feel like I'm at a summer picnic.

 

One more - to finish out the ensemble. Isn't it incredible how Cyndee can get three such different looks with one stamp set? Oh, I love them all.

 

Shining Light on the Sunshine Garden Stationery Box

You all have to be the most patient readers in the web sphere. Last weekend was a whirlwind of activity with our stamp camp. It was a total blast, but I crashed afterward. Then my job took me to Llano, Texas. I love that quirky little town. But, I haven't forgotten that way back on February 10 I shared pictures of a stationery box/card organizer made with the Sunshine Garden Simply Stampin' kit. My pictures were rushed because I had to loan out the box quickly to some friends. I promised you better pictures. Well, at long last, here they are.

I freakin' love this box. It doesn't even use half the contents of the Simply Scrappin' kit and it's a breeze to put together. Here's the outside again.

   

The little box only measures 6" wide by 5" tall and 2" deep, but look what's packed inside.

 

Isn't that picture better? No dust on the piano at least.

And, because I am so impressed with myself for coming up with the idea of using the faux bulletin board out of cork shelf paper, here's another picture looking straight down. By the way, a friend told me you can find these adhesive-backed cork shelf liners at your neighborhood Home Depot.
